 The Orkestra Melayu Singapura (Youth) was formed in March 2004 to preserve and promote Malay music in Singapore. Combining both Western orchestration techniques with traditional Malay music styles. Besides being a trove of Malay music and culture, the OMS (Youth) readily embraces other cultural influences in its music. OMS is also active in introducing Malay traditional music to the young in our schools. This outreach to young Singaporeans is one of the main objective of Peoples's Association Talents (PA Talents), which comprises the OMS and the seven ethnic performing groups. Although PA Talents artistes are volunteers, they have been active in inculcating a better appreciation of Singapore's cultural heritage through their performances.
